Legal Aid Foreclosure Help
OregonHomeownerSupport.gov is now working with Legal Aid Services of Oregon to help provide direct legal assistance and pro bono referrals for low income Oregon homeowners and tenants faced with foreclosure-related legal problems. Legal Aid will be able to assist some income-eligible borrowers and tenants directly, while others may be referred for reduced or sliding scale fee services. The range of services provided extends from limited advice to ongoing representation in foreclosure proceedings.
Borrowers and tenants can call the toll-free statewide intake line at 1-855-412-8828 (or in the Portland metro area call 503-227-0198) to speak with an intake specialist. Please note that the intake line is not staffed by attorneys and the intake specialist cannot give legal advice. Your case will be screened for acceptance after you have called the intake line. The intake line is open from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Intake staff can assist borrowers in English and Spanish, and can also assist borrowers in other languages by using phone-based interpretation services.
If you are an Oregon attorney who would like to volunteer your time to Legal Aid’s Foreclosure Help project, you can obtain an application to join the pro bono panel by calling the intake line at 503-227-0198 in the Portland area, or toll-free from the rest of the state at 1-855-412-8828.
